How much does a translation cost?
We usually price translations per 1000 words in the source language. However we can also price per standard line (55 characters) or per standard page (1500 characters) if you prefer. We usually receive translation assignments as Word files and so a word count is easy to perform, enabling an accurate price to be quoted.
Why not mail us you document(s) or provide us with details of your project and we will be pleased to send you a quotation or cost estimate – usually within 24 hours.
How long does it take to complete a translation?
We work together with professional translators (humans) and not with translation software. A translator can translate approximately 2000 words per day, although this can vary depending on the languages and the degree of difficulty involved. Instead of using individual translators for large projects, we can commission teams of translators to reduce the overall lead time. If you have a specific deadline in mind, please give details so that we can factor it into our quotation.
Do you perform express translations?
Yes. If your translation is urgent, just give us a call or send us an e-mail. We will then do all we can to get your project turned round within 24 hours. We charge 10% extra for express translations.
Do you use translation software?
No. Our translations are completed by professional (human) translators. To assist them in their work, many of our translators use Translation Memory (TM) Software to ensure efficiency and a high quality standard.
What is Translation Memory (TM) Software?
TM does not translate text but assists the human translator to produce accurate, consistent translations more quickly. Put simply, TM saves every passage of translated text in a database enabling it to be used again at a later stage, if that same passage is repeated elsewhere in the one or other document. This means that repetitions do not need to be translated from scratch. This generates benefits in terms of efficiency and quality (higher degree of consistency). We pass these benefits onto our clients in the form of price reductions. For each client we can set up a specific TM database, which grows in time, increasing the cost benefits.
When and how do I pay?
Once your translation project has been successfully completed, you will receive an invoice from us. You can pay by bank transfer. Depending on the size of the project, we may request you to pay a deposit when you commission any work with us.
Can I entrust you with confidential material?
Yes. Treating confidential material with the utmost care is an integral part of our business. For example we translate confidential corporate correspondence, press releases with sensitive information or legal documents or carry out linguistic checks on brand names. Our translators are trustworthy and have experience in handling confidential information. Furthermore our translators are required to sign non-disclosure agreements covering all the work they perform for LinguaKraft. Following the completion of any specific translation project, we can destroy or return any confidential information to you, should you so require.
